We often get carried away in the idea of superpowers! Most people grow up watching cartoons of amazing characters who fly, have superhuman strength or have some other completely awe inspiring skill. We love the idea that we can transcend the ordinary and become a hero, but who are we really looking up to today?
I often wonder where along that road of inspiration we got derailed into the obsession of reality tv and people who don't have extraordinary talents or minds, but simply have learned to be famous. In a video driven, immediate real-time reflected digital world we have to be more careful than ever in who we look up to.
We watch models be photoshopped into an unreal body type. We witness athletes take drugs to enhance their performance. We are conflicted in believing in politicians who say one thing and do another. In a world where any story can be doctored, changed and plotted for the audience we have to learn the skills of trusting ourselves to be a good judge of character and ideals.
Our intuition is our strongest communication tool to get a read on what we perceive to be real or unreal, true or untrue, ordinary or extraordinary. As we begin a week of the presidential election may your superpower guide you to vote! May your superpower show you a path that is true to you! May you own how amazing your own powers actually are!
May the force be with you and may you kick some serious ass!
